As I am growing older and hopefully wiser, I am spending my holidays with less celebrating and more purposeful endeavors. I enjoyed the book Shanghai Girls by Lisa See this weekend. It is a wonderful book that I highly recommend. I found time to spend with our three year old grandson yesterday playing with cars and tractors and then reading a book about trucks and tractors that he thoroughly enjoyed. Grammie Kay enjoyed the cuddle time more than anything. They grow up and out of our laps so quickly. Another pleasant task was repotted flowers and culling the ones that were passed their time. The new begonias make me smile every time I look out the back window. We bought another really nice bird feeder too this weekend. It's beginning to sound like the holiday of an elderly person, which is not true. Perhaps the time has come to stop and smell the roses or begonias as it were. Last night lard soap for laundry was created with Clean Laundry scent. The next creation was a large mold of lavender extraordinaire soap with lavender buds for a wonderful fragranced soap for lavender lovers. It has almond oil and shea butter which makes a very rich and moisturizing bar. Overall it was a slow and enjoyable weekend punctuated by pops and crackles of the neighborhood fireworks. Hopefully each of you had a wonderful holiday weekend too, be it a little more exciting than ours or slow and relaxing.
